Positive review response examples
Thank-you replies for the good reviews small businesses get · Updated October 21, 2026
Good reviews are easy to ignore because nothing is on fire. But a quick, specific thank-you tells the customer you noticed, and it shows everyone reading your profile that a real person is behind the business. Below are ten common positive reviews with a reply for each. Change the details so they sound like you. For bad reviews, see these negative review response examples, and for the full method, read how to respond to Google reviews.
The pattern behind a good thank-you
- Thank them, using their first name if their profile shows one.
- Mention one specific thing they praised, so it is clearly not a copy-paste.
- Add a small, natural detail about your business, such as the service or neighborhood, when it fits.
- Close with a warm line about next time. Two or three sentences is plenty.
1. Detailed 5-star review
Sample review: “Maria cut and colored my hair and it’s the best it has looked in years. The salon was spotless and she really listened.” 5 stars.
Thank you so much! I’ll make sure Maria sees this. She’ll be thrilled you love the color. We’re glad you felt heard, and we can’t wait to see you at your next appointment.
Why it works: it repeats the real details (Maria, the color, being listened to) and gives credit to the employee.
2. Short 5-star review
Sample review: “Great service!” 5 stars.
Thank you! We really appreciate you taking a moment to leave a review, and we look forward to helping you again.
Why it works: short reviews get short replies. Don’t pad it with details the customer never mentioned.
3. 5-star rating with no text
Sample review: no text, 5 stars.
Thanks for the 5 stars! We’re glad you had a good experience and hope to see you again soon.
Why it works: it acknowledges the rating without guessing at what they liked.
4. Review that names an employee
Sample review: “Jake was our technician and explained everything before he started. No surprises on the bill.” 5 stars.
Thank you for the kind words about Jake! Explaining the work and the price up front is exactly how we want every service call to go. We’ve shared your review with him and the whole team.
Why it works: it thanks the employee by name and quietly reinforces a selling point (clear pricing) in the customer’s own words.
5. Loyal repeat customer
Sample review: “Been coming here every Friday for five years. Never disappoints.” 5 stars.
Five years of Fridays! Thank you for being such a loyal part of our family. We’ll have your usual table ready this week.
Why it works: it echoes their detail and feels personal. Only mention a habit they shared publicly.
6. First-time customer
Sample review: “First visit and I’m already planning to come back. The staff made me feel welcome.” 5 stars.
Welcome, and thank you for giving us a try! We’re so glad the team made you feel at home on your first visit. See you next time.
7. Review that praises a specific product or service
Sample review: “Their brisket is the real deal. Smoky, tender, and they don’t skimp on portions.” 5 stars.
Thank you! Our pitmaster starts that brisket before sunrise, so this means a lot. Next time, try it with the jalapeño cornbread.
Why it works: it adds a short behind-the-scenes detail and a natural suggestion, without turning into an ad.
8. Review that mentions a problem you fixed
Sample review: “There was a mix-up with my order, but the manager fixed it right away and was super kind.” 5 stars.
Thank you for your patience with the mix-up, and for noticing how we handled it. We’re sorry it happened, and we’re glad we could make it right. Hope to see you again soon.
Why it works: it owns the mistake briefly and thanks them for the second chance.
9. 4-star review with a small suggestion
Sample review: “Loved the food. Parking was a bit tight.” 4 stars.
Thank you, and we’re glad you loved the food! You’re right that parking fills up at dinner. There’s extra space in the lot behind the building after 5 PM. We hope to see you again.
Why it works: it treats the small complaint as useful and gives a real tip. Only mention a fix that actually exists.
10. Review from a business customer
Sample review: “We’ve used them for our office cleaning for a year. Reliable and thorough.” 5 stars.
Thank you for a great first year together! Reliability is what we care about most, and it’s a pleasure working with your team. We look forward to the year ahead.
Mistakes to avoid
- Pasting the same reply on every review. Readers notice, and it makes the reviews look less genuine.
- Stuffing keywords like “best plumber in Phoenix” into every reply. Mention your service or area only where it reads naturally.
- Sharing details the customer didn’t mention publicly, such as what they bought or their appointment history.
- Offering a discount for the review. Google’s tips for review replies ask owners to keep replies useful and to avoid promotions.

Questions owners ask
Should I respond to positive reviews?
Yes. A short, specific thank-you shows the reviewer and future customers that a real person reads every review, and it gives you a chance to mention what you do and where, in natural words.
How do you respond to a 5-star review?
Thank them by name if they used one, mention one specific thing they praised, and close with a warm line about seeing them again. Two or three sentences is enough.
How do you reply to a 5-star review with no text?
Keep it to one or two sentences: thank them for the rating and say you hope to see them again. Do not invent details about their visit.
Is it okay to use the same reply for every positive review?
It is better not to. Identical replies look automated to readers. Change at least one detail in each reply so it matches what the customer actually wrote.
